Happy New Year

Hope everyone is having a safe and Happy New Year. Holidays flew by this year just like they always do. Family was all together and we had a nice time. Christmas Eve at our home with a nice dinner and the annual watching of Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation. Kit's favorite has become our tradition. Christmas day after a nice breakfast and eating of Kit's beef stick we had a time to relax and enjoy every one's company then we went to Krystal and Glen's for the Needham family party which was very nice.

Happy Thanksgiving !!!

Thanksgiving was at Krystal and Glen's this year they had everyone over. Justin and Allison did not come home. Krystal cooked her first turkey and it was a really nice family. We really love the Needham family. They have all been so wonderful to Krystal and then to us. I think Krystal and Glen did a great job.

Our trip to DC for Veteran's Day

What a great trip. We left on Saturday and returned on Tuesday evening. Rule for the trip have fun and no talking about kids. We got to see the Holocaust Museum which was heartbreaking. We went up Washington's Memorial, met Bo Derek, heard Vice President Dick Cheney speak at Arlington and went to CG hill at Arlington National Cemetary. We stayed out late, had dinner, laughed talked and did adult things the entire time. Sometime I think life goes by so fast and I spend so much time at work, being mom and all the duties that entails that I forget what it's like to be "Amber", this trip reminded me just how wonderful that can be. I have been a mom since I was 18 years old and it is not very often that I get alone time or time with Kit. I need to do alone time and "adult time" with Kit. I would never miss anything in my children's life but often I am to tired or to busy to take the time to enjoy being with Kit. I need to make sure to recharge as it makes me a better mom and a better person.

Trick or Treat

What a great Halloween!! I worked from home this morning and then went to the girls school.I am Whitney's room mother, I love spending time with the girls at school and seeing how they are with their friends. She has a great teacher this year Mrs. Kirberger and so Whitney is excelling in school, she is finally reading above her grade level. Yeah great teachers. I had games set up they played witches brew, musical chairs, and then Krystal, Mrs. Kirberger, and I face painted Halloween themes on their faces. Destiny's class is next door and we did face painting for them also. Krystal is according to D and W the coolest big sister. They love when she comes with me. Kit and I took Destiny and Whitney trick or treating this evening. It is funny to see what the girls choose as their costumes each year. Kit was a devil for his CG party today. Destiny made her dad be a hunter tonight and she was a dead possum. Whitney was a fairy. We are home already and now we are going to watch a scary movie. Poltergeist I still remember when my mom took me and Andrea to see it years ago. Kit and I had last weekend together and went to a costume party it was a 80's theme and we had tons of fun. I felt like a teenager again and it was nice to have " adult time ". We so rarely get that; I definitely need more time with just Kit. Tomorrow we have our last soccer game unless we make the playoffs so a very busy weekend.

I can't believe I am 40

Well, life sneaks up on you. I wanted this big party for my 40th but I guess it is not in my husband's nature however,he was romantic after all. He delivered roses and balloons to my office, cooked me dinner, got me a digital picture frame and most importantly a romantic card. 40 is hard I don't know where the time went most days I don't feel 40. I love family. I got married so young and moved far away. In 22 years I have not lived near Utah. Today all my family contacted me and for the first time in years I felt like a part of my family. I truly love and miss them To hear my dad talk about the day I was born, my mom called and sympathizes with aging, my sister called, put me on her blog and all my brothers contacted me. To me family is the most important thing in life and sometimes we forget how much we love them and how much they shape us. My girls were so amazing they all made me great handmade cards my favorite. My girls are my best friends and the lights of my life. All in all big party my family(the family Kit and I created and the family I was born into) makes me very happy!!!

Girls, Girls, Girls!!!!!!

What a night for the girls. We had our end of summer bash and we had 9 girls in all here. They swam, jumped on the trampoline, played games, and ate junk food. After dinner we did our toes and nails and then everyone got a mud mask. After this we did hair and put on lotion and perfume. They sure looked pretty. We ended the night watching lava girl and shark boy. Everyone had a great time and Destiny and Whitney think we should do it every summer.

Memory tag

My sister had this on her blog and I thought it sounded like fun so I am doing as she asked. I recently have been trying hard to keep in touch better with friends, and family and this is great.
Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together, or one of the first memories you have of me. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and leave a comment for you

Busy, busy, summer.

Harris family has been on the go all summer long. Destiny and Whitney had soccer and basketball camp and played softball. We just got back from the Smokie Mountains not the best trip. We had a blow-out on the way there and my CTS broke down 3 hours from home. While in Pigeon Ford, Tennessee we had a great time. Our hotel was on the river. We took the girls down to the river every night and let them raft down. They thought it was fun and could not believe their mom used to do it in a much bigger river at girls camp every year. We hiked the Appalacian trail and even saw a baby bear. Dollywood was crowded but we loved the mine and the wooden roller coaster. Whitney totally overcame her fear of roller coasters. Justin is visiting for the week as he has his flight physical this week. It is nice to have him around for awhile. The girls are all over him, they love to have bubba and his kitty "perry cox" around but they are mad that Allison is not here.

Destiny and Whitney get a haircut

Well I did it. They have been begging for months so I let the girls get their hair cut short. Destiny does not like hers now (Krystal was the same at this age). Whitney loves her new style. I think they are both beautiful.

Buzzards Bash

We had a great time last week at our "Buzzards Bash". The girls enjoyed swimming, eating, and making picture frames. It was a really great season. What a fantastic group of girls and their parents. The girls learned a lot and worked well as a team.Looking forward to next year.

Happy Father's Day!!!!

What a great Father's Day weekend. We took our trailer to Cheatem Annex in Williamsburg, Virginia. We had site 5 over-looking the York River. We spent 2 fun filled days at Busch Gardens and left with a new pet. A small turtle crawled in to Whitney's shoe and we have decided to keep little "Snapper". Whitney conquered her fear of "roller coasters" and we all relaxed and enjoyed our time together. Happy Father's Day Kit. You are a great father to our children and I love you!

My first Tattoo

Today I finally did it I went and got my first tattoo. I have been saying for ten years I wanted one and always chicken out. I wanted one that had sentimental meaning to me. My tattoo has kit's name, the ocean, and 4 starfish with JKDW. Starfish cant survive without the ocean and the ocean is like the love I give to my children. I also love the beach and all the times we have spent on the beach

Kit gets a Star

Today was a great day! Very few people in the US Military get the honer of wearing a a star on their uniform: Admirals, Generals, and in the U.S. Sea services the most senior enlisted (E8-E9) get that honor. Today my hero, Kit L Harris pinned on his star. Less than 4% of the Coast Guard ever earn this honor. Today Kit became (Aviation Maintenance Senior Chief) AMTCS Harris. Justin pinned on one star and I pinned on the other. He is now head of the AMT (Aviation Maintenance Technician) A and C Schools at the ATTC (Aviation Technical Training Center) in Elizabeth City NC. Master Chief granted Kit liberty for the day so he and I went with Justin to Grenville. We went to Parker's the barbecue restaurant where Justin works. The food was really good and it was nice to see how much everyone there liked Justin. Then we hung out with him and Allison and played rock band.
